Barry, Kim and Scott make up the Board of Directors. We have an amazing support team with our Executive Resources Board. Members include Dave, Tamara, Rob, Stephanie, Van, Jim, Helen, Irene, Walt, Claire, Tim, Dottie and one very Top Secret Stealthy Ninja.
Tranquility Point was conceived in August 2021. We established the organization and are an approved 501.c.3 non-profit.
Our mission is to prevent suicide among the most at-risk groups - Veterans suffering from PTSD, First Responders, and Foster Children whom have aged out.
We met Barry and Kim in 2021 when we were promoting Greenwood County’s first Wreaths Across America program. As soon as they shared their dream of providing a place of healing for veterans, we knew we had to help make their dream come true. Our shared faith and belief in God’s leadership in our lives has been a strong bond from the moment we met. We continually look for ways to help spread their vision and support Tranquility Point in every way we can.
I first met Kim and Barry Gambrell on February 15, 2022 when they joined in the planning of the Greater Greenwood's first Community Wellness Day Event that was held in April 2022. The Wellness Event was quickly pulled together as a response to what we had been witnessing in our 2 high schools and our inner city. Lead by Frank Grand and a few key others, we felt that a group of Godly individuals could make a connection with our youth, if we could get their attention. Tranquility Point, because of their non-profit status, became a featured sponsor of that Wellness Day Event, contributing to its success. I introduced Barry and Kim to Dottie when, a few weeks later, they worshiped at The Connection, Coronaca Campus of St Mark United Methodist Church where we attend. Over the course of these past 12 months, I have felt a strong connection with their mission and helped raise funds at Christmas through a sponsored Santa appearance. This year already, we have continued to support Tranquility Point through our time, talents and with some donated items. We are especially pleased to see that a web-site domain has been created and we both are now eager to see what God has in store for Tranquility Point as its message, vision and mission are spread throughout South Carolina and beyond.. - Tim Keppler
I have known Barry since 1993, when we were both young Air Force officers stationed in Texas. Since then, he’s been a great friend and mentor. In recent years, I’ve been inspired watching Barry and Kim work so hard to build Tranquility Point from the ground up—a true labor of love. I am honored to support the great work that Tranquility Point does—and will do—in support of our veterans and others in need.
Rob and Tammi will share thier story here.
Helen was one of the first people we spoke to about creating Tranquility Point. She had set up a table for Wreaths Across America. We talked to her that day and decided we could support her efforts and today she supports our efforts. Helen writes, "I had the honor of helping a WWII veteran and a Vietnam Veteran write their memoirs of life in combat zones. These experiences along with having many friends and family members who were veterans, gave us a sensitivity to the issues veterans face after leaving the military." Kim and I often refer to Helen as our Guardian Angel.
Jim worked with Vietnam veterans and one Vietnam POW in his careers as a military contractor and in-flight simulation training at Federal Express. Jim enjoys volunteering at Tranquility Point and has coined the term "Tranquility Point Tuesdays" as we often do a lot of difficult manual labor on Tuesdays.
Stephanie and Van bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the ERB. They are die-hard Clemson fans as well as the Citadel. They add a depth of experience in grant writing and building code requirements.
We met Barry and Kim in February 2022 at an organizational meeting for the first Greater Greenwood Community Wellness Day. We are all about bringing people together, sharing common interests, and improving our community… all while having fun!
Irene is so cool. Irene visited with us for a couple of days in June 2023. While spending time at Tranquility Point, she started work on a "Tranquility" song. We will post her song soon here.
Our newest ERB members. We are so very excited to add these two amazing people to our ERB. Walter and Kim bring a vigor and tremendous enthusiasm to our team. They support many efforts throughout this community and we can't wait to work with them more in the future.
These two are a fearsome dynamic duo. They bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our Resources Board. Both hail from Germany and grew up among some of the finest wine Vinyards in the world. They have been long-time supporters of Tranquility Point and we are thrilled to have them officially on-board.
This member is truly our "WOW!!!" member. Our Stealthy Ninja was asked to be our first ERB member and the reply we got was "I'm way TOO BUSY." Since then, our Ninja has quietly and covertly changed the trajectory for Tranquility Point in ways only a true ninja could. It is with sincere gratitude that we say "Thank you" to our very own stealth ERB member. If we say anything else the ninja's identity may be compromised so we will just leave this at "WOW!!!! WOW, WOW, WOW!"
